Introduction


Genji Siraisi is a Brooklyn native steeped in the NY traditions of Punk, Hip-Hop, Jazz, House & Latin. A founding member of the genre bending NYC band, Groove Collective, whose 2007 album "People People Music Music" was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album. Genji co-wrote/co-produced all 6 of Groove Collective's studio albums for Warner/impulse, GRP, Shanachie and Savoy Records. He has also produced records for London/PayDay, Pony Canyon and Giant Step Records.

His solo work, sometimes appearing under the name Pushtobreak, is mainly electronic but spans from beat driven to ambient and covers a wide range of styles. In 2007 he released "Censorsh!t" on Expansion Team records, his first solo release and "Baby Winter" an ambient exploration with pianist extraordinaire Barney McAll on Kufala Records.

Genji's music has been used in television commercials for Pepsi, American Express, McDonald's, Tylenol, Captain Morgans, BIO, Comedy Central and in documentary and independent films including "Liberia: An Uncivil War", "World's Best Prom", "The Big Race", "Little Black Dress", "To Be Seen" and the feature film "Brutal".
